SUMMER SURVIVAL | a 90 day spiritual survival plan for summer
Every summer we offer students a summer survival plan. Why do we do this? Because the summer break usually leaves students weary, spiritually dry, and some even end up badly wounded in their faith. Someone once said if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. OR even better - if you aim at nothing, you'll hit it every time! We want everyone to come back on fire for the Lord, excited about reaching out, and even feeling refreshed and energized for the new school year! If you don't have a plan for your summer spiritual growth, well...., you will likely not experience any growth. The opportunities we are providing are not a guarantee of growth, however, they do put us into a better position for growth to occur! That is up to GOD. See James 4:7-9 below
Here are the oportunities we have to survive the summer:
90 Day New Testament - we read every night through the New Testament (3 chapters), discuss, and pray for one another. This is done in person and via zoom.
Special Gatherings - there will be a camping trip, movie and game nights, and a few surprises for us all to re-gather over the break.
A summer break book bonanza - we recommend several books to read over break and will have a few zoom meetings to discuss
Tuesday Night 7pm Gatherings - These are in person and zoom - Read more below...
OUR SUMMER READS (we will have several discussion groups around these)
JESUS PROM by Jon Weece and THE INSANITY OF GOD by Nik Ripken will be our two summer book reads. Get it at Amazon for Kindle today and save tons (there is a PC Kindle app for free) or just buy the paper back. Our aim is to complete the JESUS PROM read by the end of June and Insanity by the end of July. We will have several zoom meetings to discuss each of these books.
TUESDAY NIGHTS 7PM | THE CHOSEN - video & discussion
Join us this summer break Tuesday nights 7pm at the ACT campus house (and via ZOOM) for a continued look at the video series THE CHOSEN. We are now in season 2. We watch an episode together and then discuss. We will also look at the key biblical passages pointed at in the episode.
Don't miss out on anything we have going on! You will receive a weekly student email with all the events, activities, and opportunities. We also like to share important things to pray about as well as news to celebrate.
